Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar is short for Bipolar Disorder, or Manic Depressive Disorder. Bipolarity is another common word to use.

Understanding Mental Illness and Diagnosis

Many people are confused by mental illness and many will claim that they simply do not exist.

Mental Illness - Sad TeenagerThey mean that such conditions are caused by the persons experiencing it. However, every day there are counselors who are diagnosing people as having a mental illness conditions. The disease is difficult to determine because of this, whether or not a diagnosis is correct. Also because of this, there are many controversies surrounding these conditions.

Mental health is essential for everyday life. Most people are fit to go through life without glitches in their mental activity, but others seem to have constant interruptions. It`s these interruptions that show us that there is something going wrong in the brain of these individuals and that there is an existing problem.

To understand interruptions that occur in the brain we need to look at different diagnoses and symptoms. We could use bipolar depression for this example. Bipolarity is one of the most common disorders diagnosed in today`s society. In fact, you probably know someone with bipolar depression you just don`t know that they have it. Bipolar disorder is extremely common, but many people do not fully understand the condition.

Bipolar is a chemical imbalance in the brain. Meaning; the brain is denied of vital nutrients that it needs to maintain a stable mindset. Since lots of people are diagnosed bipolar, they do not have their whole life experiences taken into consideration; this can be an enormous problem for them.

We all experience stress, trauma and excitement in our lives. However, not everybody deals with these stressors the same way as somebody else would do. No one should be expected to cope with such stressors the same way as everybody else would do. There is a process that takes place that brings on the condition of bipolar depression.

The first thing we must consider is that all have some “triggers” in life. That triggers might be traumatic events that occur in one’s life. Now, everybody deals with these differently.

Some people will react negatively, and others ignore. Those individuals who ignore these issues are generally not hearing the messages in between. This is how we can separate a mentally ill mind from a so called “normal” way of thinking.

The mentally ill mind tends to consume everything in life that is said. They get it all, and they fell all of that process in their heads until this begins to cause confusion. The “normal” mind tends to listen only to what it wants to listen to, and they do not have these conflicting thoughts to cause the mental confusion.

To better understand this process, it helps also to understand cognitive mental health disorders and how these are related to the confusion that occurs in the mind.

Critiques of Depression Medication

The use of depression medication in the treatment of mental illness is at an all-time high.

Depression MedicationThere is no reason to believe it will decline in the foreseeable future either. Depression diagnosed with increased frequency and antidepressants are the most popular means of treating the disorder. Antidepressants are extremely popularly. There are those, however, who are against using depression medication.

Some argue that the research support the effectiveness of the pharmaceuticals is over influenced by the financial interests of large pharmaceutical companies. They maintain that any statement of depression medication effectiveness should be disregarded because of the corrupt nature of the medical industry. Some may temper that perspective, arguing instead that the effectiveness of the pills is heavily overstated and over prescribed.

There are strong arguments to be made that the medical-governmental-industrial complex tends to be self-perpetuating and may not always have the greater good at the forefront. However, the wholesale rejection of available evidence based on bias is not particularly compelling to most analysts.

Even those who think less conspiratorially may oppose the use of depression medication. One common argument raised by objectors is that the medicines do not get at the root of the disease and instead act merely to mask its symptoms. They may state that it will be more difficult curing the disease and eliminating its triggers by masking the effects. They recommend therapy-based treatment programs to get to “the heart of the problem” instead of treating the issue with medication.

Others maintain that depression medication is simply too mysterious to be embraced. They argue that no one truly understands why the medications work and that, thus, there is reason to be concerned about what they may be doing to the mind of the patient. It is true that no one truly understands exactly why all antidepressants tend to produce the results they do. However, scientific research is beginning to reach more solid conclusions, which may render this objection outdated, in the near future.

Others opposed to the use of antidepressants base their arguments on religious beliefs or assessments of the severity of potential side effects associated with the use of drugs.

Critics of antidepressants offer alternative means of treatment. They often support aggressive therapy-based solutions, the use of improved nutrition and other acts in order to fight off the symptoms of a depressive disorder. Many advocate non-traditional treatment methods or more ancient practices designed to improve mental health.Healing in Present Moment

Despite a large chorus of detractors, however, the use of antidepressants continues unabated. The best available scientific evidence indicates that they are among the most successful treatment options, and doctors are prescribing the medications in increasing numbers every day. It would appear as though there is little likelihood that, in the near future, critics will restrict the use of depression medication.

Roots of Mental Health Issues

Some of the Basics of Mental Health Issues

Mental health Delirium Tremens Fantasy

There are several different types of mental illnesses, and they all have some essence that prompts them to manifest somewhere in a person’s life. There are various conditions that people may suffer from including:

Adjustment disorders are common when a person has a hard time adapting to stress in their life.  Bipolar is another common disorder diagnosed in individuals, but this condition can easily be misconstrued and can be misdiagnosed. Bipolar or manic depression affects individuals and often includes symptoms such as:

In just a matter of minutes, these individuals seem to suffer from extreme highs to extreme lows.

They can literally drive a person crazy, and they should get immediate treatment for their mental health problems. These Delirium Tremens Dreamindividuals often threaten suicide, although many are just looking for attention and never attempt suicide. Conditions like this have a direct link to a chemical imbalance in the brain, and the problem is more neurological than physiological.

This problem is likely to be passed on in a family and has also been linked to genetics.

Some patients diagnosed as bipolar, have a family history of similar behavior with mood swings. Several of these chemical disorders are usually happening in their childhood, and trauma that the person sustained never received treatment.

Bipolar symptoms will occur if the trauma allows festering and the person never has to accept and deal with it.

Sexual disorders also occur in a similar way. These mental disorders are different from bipolar and other adjustment disorders. Sexual deviation is often linked to abuse, although not always. Pornography and other types of negative sexual behaviors are not necessarily abuse related.

However, recent studies have proved serial killers, and sociopathic behaviors are genetic. Some studies have linked these conditions to child abuse, and this may be the case in some instances, but not necessary all instances. Sexual disorders are mental, and there have been links of psychological impairments that cause interruptions in the brain`s processes which cause this Dementiabehavior to manifest itself.

Dementia and delirium are brain disorders that tend to manifest themselves in older individuals.

These cause memory loss and confusion.

If the patient is in a developing face, memory loss and confusion might be difficult to determine since the condition could be caused by other mental health illnesses in young individuals.

Dealing with Bipolar Disorder, Depression and Anxiety

To deal with bipolar disorder(manic depressive) loneliness, (sadness) depression and anxiety (panic attacks) is not an easy thing to do.

Concept of Bipolar DisorderSometimes people may feel that everything is lost, and they have no recourse to change the way they are feeling. Take a deep breath and walk out the front door can open up many opportunities for one, and can provide better feelings in no time.

One out of three people has experienced a sense of loneliness and depression, and some of them cannot even say what is making them feel this way. These feelings can stop people in their tracks, making them unable to function in their daily lives.

Here are some ways to chase the loneliness and depression away, and then, perhaps enjoy each and every day as they come.

The main thing a person should try to figure out is what things are making them feel the way they do in the first place. Feeling lonely can be as straightforward as not having anyone around them to interact with on a regular basis. Sometimes one can be around people and still feel lonely, and in order not to feel this way, try to find out why.

Being depressed can happen to anybody, and the reasons for it varied from person to person. Being lonely can lead to becoming depressed, but they do not always go hand in hand. Feeling tense and despondent happens when we cannot deal with things in life at the moment, and we feel that there is no hope to getting past that.

Once a person has identified some of the reasons why he or she are feeling the way they do, they can begin to seek out ways to make they feel better. Certainly, one of the ways folks can utilize is taking medication to help get rid of the sad feelings they have. This is not for everyone. Consult with a doctor to determine if it is right, before taking any medication.

Using herbal solutions can be an acceptable substitute to using traditional medication. Going to a health store can provide many excellent options for taking a natural approach to your depressed state of mind. The people who work there can be extremely helpful in finding the legal remedies that will work best.

Another great way to get rid of the blues is to make an appointment with some mental health specialist in your area. Sometimes talking things out with someone totally distanced from one’s life, can give the opportunity to work out some of what is bothering a person. These professionals provide a safe environment for all and do not represent a condescending or judgmental point of view.

If folks do not want to take any medications to help them, there are some basic things they can do that may work in conjunction with taking to a professional. Putting oneself amongst friends is an excellent way to shake off the lonely feelings. It will also help with depressed thoughts. Going outdoors and experiencing different environments is also helpful.

Teen Bipolar Disorder and Their Unique Challenges

Teen bipolar disorder is diagnosed more frequently.

bipolar-imagesBecause of the unique challenges, Teen bipolar disorder is diagnosed more frequently each year – as it should be. Manic depression is always a serious disorder, but when younger people are in the throes of the disease, it poses some additional challenges. Let us look at some of the unique problems of handling teen bipolar disorder.

First, we should probably take a moment to discuss what bipolar disorders are. In the simplest of terms, one is bipolar when they cycle between deep emotional lows and inappropriate emotional highs. Those who are bipolar experience periods of depression and, on the other end of the emotional spectrum, episodes of outright mania. Behavior on both ends is often potentially dangerous, and this illness can be exceptionally challenging for anyone.

Teen bipolar disorder refers to cases of the disorder diagnosed in young people.

Manic depression is difficult for any sufferer, but teens often have a more difficult time than others do. There are a few reasons.

First, the teen years are a period during which self-confidence is already often lacking. It is a trying period of self-discovery for emotionally healthy kids. There are those who try to take the gauntlet of issues, and learning experiences that are essential to the phase of life while simultaneously suffering from a debilitating mental health issue. This is not surprisingly, but can be quite traumatized by the experience.

This trauma is multiplied, in some sense, by the fact that younger people are yet to develop solid coping skills. Bipolar disorder can adversely affect even the most world-weary adult, but when it occurs with a younger person, they may be totally blindsided by its challenges.

Additionally, the nature of the age makes teen bipolar disorder more difficult for families and loved ones to spot the illness. Hormonal changes and social pressures often make teens “moody.” It can be hard for many parents to distinguish between manic depressive tendencies and traditional teen behavior. Catching the disease early in its development is always preferable, but when manic depression strikes a teenager, that can be extremely difficult.

Third, teen bipolar disorder takes place at a horrible time in terms of social development. Kids in this age group are involved with school, activities and socialization that can help them to learn how to function successfully as adults. That learning process can be short-circuited when a child is simultaneously dealing with manic depression.

Fortunately, teen bipolar disorder is treatable. Pharmaceutical and cognitive therapies can help bring the condition under control, allowing the victim to experience a tremendously improved quality of life. Successful treatment of the problem does require professional medical intervention. If one is, or knows, a teen who is exhibiting signs of a potential bipolar disorder, medical intervention is essential.

Although no mental health condition is “easy,” circumstances can create additional layers of challenge. Such is the case with teen bipolar disorder.
