Stress can be the cause of many issues, but at the same time is a result of your actions and your environment.

Let’s explain this in a simpler way.

Over a period, you start always to feel tired and worn out. You can’t put your finger on the reason, but you notice that your energy levels are down, and  that you just can’t sleep properly. This is a result of stress.

Your increased stress levels, is the same things that allowed you to get run down. Because you are feeling tired, you do not handle situations as well as you usually would. Getting enough rest is a key to managing your stress levels.
Stressors are items in your environment that cause you to feel stressed out. They add to your tiredness and drain your body of energy. This is a vicious circle that becomes a never ending one.

To manage your stress you need to get enough sleep, and learn how to relax your body. How many times have you stayed up at night, just because you can’t get certain things out of your mind? These are your stressors – the things you have to learn to let go off.

Practical ways to manage stress include listening to soothing music. Soothing music can be especially helpful if you have trouble falling asleep. Turn off all lights but a candle light in your bedroom, and listen to some soft music, and then set the radio or disc player to auto shut, off after about an hour.

Another great way of learning how to relax your body is to soak in a hot bath, or to take a warm shower. Going for a massage can help to; this is great if your muscles feel stiff and knotted.

Your stress levels can also be kept down getting enough exercises on a regular basis. A particularly useful way for helping you relax, and sleep better at night, is exercise, such as yoga, walking and swimming.

To disallow stress to have you running around in circles is your goal. If your stress levels are super high then look for a reason, then take action to minimize your levels. At work, you may have too much on your plate – or you may find that you never spend any time on yourself.

Your family needs you to stay healthy, and remember you are important to them. It is possible to find ways to manage your stress, and keep those levels at bay.

Stop the things that allowed you to get run down, and gave you increased stress levels.

One of the leading causes of stress is linked to ones job, there cannot be any doubt about that. It`s a sad fact that majority of people are not happy with their job. They see it as a means to an end, a method of paying the bills. Period! This may provide you with a great lifestyle, but there are plenty of disadvantages to working at a job you hate.

Stressed and AngryThe rates of depression and suicide among middle aged men is growing, and this can be directly related to their jobs. Many men are the sole income earners for their family. They work hard for years and years to provide for their children, to put food on the table and shelter over their heads.

Unfortunately, most of these men are working at a job they dislike. They have become bored with doing the same thing over and over again. They may be sick and tired of long commutes and ever increasing traffic every day.

The problem with many men is that they do not show their true feelings or acknowledge that they are stressed out. Instead, they just keep on going and going until they become physically and mentally worn out.

They suffer in silence, and many do commit suicide as they have just had enough of living the same life day in and day out. This is something that you definitely don`t  want to have happened in your family.

The first signs that job stress are becoming too difficult to handle include suffering from headaches, muscle and body pain, nausea and not being able to sleep. It is important to learn how to deal with these symptoms before they get out of control.

If your stress is work related look for ways that you can deal with it. Is it possible to work from home one or two days a week? Are you at the point where you could retire early or take an extended leave of absence?

If the commute is too much, is it possible to find a position closer to home? Does your company have other locations that you could transfer to? Sometimes a move along with new scenery is all that is needed to relieve the boredom and stress of your job.

Other alternatives include talking to your boss to see if there is another opening in the company that would suit your skills. As with any stressful situation asking for help is a good way to find solutions.

Your body has a natural defence system and does what it has to defend itself as and when necessary. This is known as “the fight or flight reaction” and is often associated with situations of fear.

Stress seems to be an unwanted attribute, but is it actually normal?

When this response kicks into gear, your body reacts in different ways. Then you may find that you become more energetic, alert and focused. Some people may find that they become frightened and truly just want to run away.

Positive Stress CycleThe fight or flight response is a way that your body deals with stress, as well. Too much stress can put strain on you both mentally and physically while a certain amount of stress is actually healthy. A woman’s body experiences a good stress when going through child-birth. While the body is under pressure, and the woman is experiencing a multitude of emotions, the outcome is a good one. The birth of a new child.

Stress becomes a problem when the cause of the stress is extreme. Your body reacts by producing a variety of symptoms. These include things such as headaches, muscle spasms, back pain, anxiety, loss of appetite or increased appetite, mood swings and an upset stomach.

Stress LevelSome people are able to manage their stress to a higher level. This boils down to how you deal with different circumstances, your attitude, your support network and your own current state of health. People who are suffering from a chronic illness tend to have much lower tolerances to stress.

So while stress is a normal bodily reaction, it is imperative to know when your stress levels are too high. You will know when it is time to take action once you know how you react to stress.

You need to know how to take control of your life and reduce your stress levels. This means learning how to say no, when necessary. You don’t have to be a super hero and no-one is asking you to be one.

Instead learn how to balance your professional and private lives and ensure that you schedule in time for yourself regularly. While anyone can become stressed out, those people who have demanding jobs seem to be at a much higher risk. Do not be afraid to ask for time off or to refuse to work an extra shift, your health depends on it.
